TASC Smash:

Sunday's Game:

It was ugly be you won, because you did not give up.  It takes heart to win at any level, and you showed as a team, you have heart.  As a team, you did the right things, such as playing the ball wide, passing up the field, and for the most part playing in your zone of responsibility.  Things you did poorly were individual technical basics, such as trapping the ball, first touch, bad passes, poor tackles, and not getting your head up.

These basic technical skills must come natural to you.  That is why it is so important to work hard at practice to master them.  A win is a win, and I know you will challenge yourself to do better the next time you step on the pitch.  Good job TASC Smash.

Saturday's Game:

What a great way to start the season.  That way was playing TASC Smash soccer.  Everyone knew their job and did it well.  The defense and middle midfielders got the ball out wide.  The outside midfielders got out wide to receive the ball and tack it down the field, and then crossed it (most of the time) to the top of the 18 box.  Boys you looked good out there.

This is a good beginning, but it is just that, the beginning.  We have a lot of work to do so you can learn new techniques and become better soccer players.  With this beginning, you should be proud of yourselves and build on it.  I always challenge myself to do better each time I step on the pitch and that is what I want you to do.  If each time you challenge yourself, then the game will take care of itself.

Winning is fun, but learning the technical aspects of soccer and executing them correctly more times then not will make me happy regardless of the wins and losses.  Let me point out some positive events that happened today.  Starting with our scoring, congratulations to Mitch & Nick who both had one goal.  Congratulation to the team for helping Mitch and Nick get those goals.

Cody has figured out that just because he is on the left side does not mean he needs to stay on the left side.  Cody made two runs with the ball to switch fields.  This is an example of how soccer is played.  AJ also made a run from Sweeper up to the attacking third.  Good job.

Chris Ingram finally played the ball out wide and with a purpose.  Great job.  This point was crucial to our success.  Again, build and learn.  Parker a.k.a. CT never gave up when attacking the goal, next time he will score.  Jimmy and Jay did a great job keeping them out of the goal.

I cannot remember all that happened but these were key elements to our success today.  If I did not mention your name, it is not because you did not contribute to our win, because you did!  Congratulations team, and play better then today the next time you step on the pitch.

Things I want to see you do at games:

1.  Always jog on and off the field

2.  When coach is talking, you are looking at him with your lips closed

3.  Line up your bags at mid-field

4.  Stay at midfield if you are not on the pitch

5.  At halftime and the end of the game get your drink and go to the corner of the field

6.  MORE TO COME

Great work TASC Smash

General Tips

1. Always follow your shots

2. Play until the whistle blows

3. If you see an injury on the field you may play the ball out of bounds to stop play. If your team had the advantage the opponnets should throw the ball back in to you. This is called good sportsmanship
